Fun with Spam Bots

Maintaining a blog that has garnered a little bit of attention and lots of targeting from spam bots can actually be very entertaining. Wordpress has a great plugin to catch the spam comments called Akismet - it keeps the spam off the front page, but I still get to read them before they’re deleted, in the off chance that a genuine comment accidentally makes it through. You might think this would be an annoyance, but this is actually why the process can be so humorous. You wouldn’t believe some of the comments the spam bots leave. Here are a few that I received today:

Hey, discovered your website accidentally carrying out a search on google however I?lmost all certainly be returning. ? How do i have confidence in Lord whenever only last week I received my tongue captured within the curler of an electrical typewriter?

Is this from one of those Tex Avery cartoon characters? That would actually explain a lot.

I like this article, congrats to the owner! I attempt to learn as much as feasible online when I have spare time. Unfortunatley it is becomming routine for souls to spend all the night on the net instead of really experiencing life, what a shame. Anyhow, continue with the good writing anyways…leastwise the people can have choice content to fertilize thier dying brains. Perhaps it’s better off, the general people is not very smart anyhow.

There nothing like a long term life to engender a long term view. Clearly this lies in your future, but I encourage you to begin developing this at the earliest moment. Becoming a parent, whenever anyone chooses to do so, provides a living and loving link to a posterity that walks and talks.

The fight against spam can be tiring, but reading through ones like these almost make it worth the while. Almost.
